IDEAL Scholarship

Inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) are critical to driving innovation and growth in the Canadian bio-economy. Yet, a lot of talent is not well represented in the sector. Only 9% of recent immigrants are represented in the workplace, while Persons with disabilities and Indigenous Peoples represent a mere combined 1%.

The I.D.E.A.L. Scholarship focuses on improving the representation of equity-deserving groups in the sector while helping students achieve their academic goals in biosciences.

BCPM 2025

The symposium will be held at Vancouver Island University in the Arts and Sciences Building (B355) lecture theatre (R203) and the adjacent multipurpose room (R211). Registration will be open until April 14th. However, because we have a limited capacity (100 people), we may have to close it earlier.

Sciex M5 microLC for sale locally
Sciex M5 microLC for sale locally

The Soma Lab is selling a Sciex M5 microLC in excellent condition. The most recent PM was in Dec 2024. This instrument can provide high sensitivity and high throughput for LC-MS/MS analyses. The asking price is CAD$5000.

The M5 microLC system can simplify small and large molecule quantitation and characterization. You can inject less of your precious sample and take advantage of this sensitive, versatile instrument. The M5 microLC also reduces costs and is eco-friendly, with low solvent consumption, and it can be integrated with Analyst and SCIEX OS software. The M5 MicroLC system is a good balance of sensitivity and robustness—more sensitive than traditional analytical flow LC, and more robust than nanoflow LC.

Key Features

Accuracy/Sensitivity: Microfluidic control for accurate flow down to 1 µL/min. Up to 10x more sensitive than analytical flow LC.
Flexibility: Compatible with any micro column.
Throughput: Trap-and-elute option with additional gradient pump for fast sample loading.
Use lower flow rates: Flow rates as low as to 1 µL/min to boost signal.
Software: Compatible with SCIEX OS and Analyst software
